يُعد الكهرمان البورمي — أو البورمايت — من أكثر أنواع الكهرمان أهميةً من الناحية العلمية وطلبًا في العالم. وقد نشأ في وادي هوكاونغ شمالي ميانمار، ويعود إلى منتصف العصر الطباشيري، أي منذ نحو 99 مليون سنة، مما يجعله أحد أقدم أنواع الكهرمان الحاوي على مستحاثات والمتاح تجاريًا. ويضعه عمره الاستثنائي ضمن عصر الديناصورات، موفرًا نافذة نادرة ومباشرة على النظم البيئية للغابات الطباشيرية.

المحتويات المحبوسة في الكهرمان هي كائنات دُفنت داخل راتنج الأشجار القديم — وليس عصارتها — منذ ملايين السنين. ومع إحاطة الراتنج بالعينة، بدأت عملية طبيعية من البلمرة، فتصلب أولًا ليصبح كوبالًا، ثم تحول في نهاية المطاف إلى كهرمان حقيقي على مدى ملايين السنين من الدفن والضغط الجيولوجي. والنتيجة نافذة على عالم مفقود: كائنات محفوظة بتفاصيل استثنائية، معلقة في الزمن كما لو أنها التُقطت بالأمس فقط.

I’ve probably ordered jewel beetle elytra from at least 15 different companies by now so when it comes to quality elytra I know my stuff and the quality that I just received from ArtButterflies is truly excellent. I would say that the average size from the 1,000 elytra package that I received is slightly larger than average, it’s a good mix of sizes. The shipping was also prompt considering that they are located in the UK and I live in Michigan. It took exactly 10 days to receive my order. If I ever need more jewel beetle elytra I will definitely buy from ArtButterflies again. Thank you!
