Thelyphonus feuerborni ist ein Geißelskorpion aus der Ordnung Uropygi – einer der ältesten und morphologisch markantesten Spinnentierlinien der Erde, deren Fossilgeschichte mehr als 300 Millionen Jahre bis ins Karbon zurückreicht. Benannt zu Ehren des deutschen Zoologen Heinrich Jakob Feuerborn (1883–1969), der umfangreiche Forschungen zur Wirbellosenfauna Javas und des indonesischen Archipels durchführte. Trotz ihres Trivialnamens sind Geißelskorpione keine echten Skorpione – sie gehören zu einer vollständig eigenständigen Spinnentierordnung und besitzen weder Giftdrüsen noch einen Stachel. Das charakteristische Merkmal der Uropygi ist stattdessen das lange, peitschenartige Flagellum am Hinterleibsende – ein Sinnesorgan und keine Waffe – sowie die Fähigkeit, aus Drüsen an der Basis des Flagellums ein Abwehrsekret aus Essigsäure (Essig) zu versprühen, was der Gruppe ihren alternativen Trivialnamen „Essigskorpione“ eingebracht hat. Eine wahrhaft uralte, anatomisch außergewöhnliche und äußerst faszinierende Ergänzung jeder ernsthaften naturkundlichen Sammlung oder arachnologischen Studie.

This was part of a double order, same as my other review. I’m new to pinning as a hobby in my spare time. From what I can tell they’re good specimens with plenty of variety. My only gripe is that they didn’t come with ID but that wouldn’t stop me from ordering again. Hopefully ID can be added to future purchases.
