Diopsis indica (Order: Diptera | Family: DIOPSIDAE) – A museum-quality stalk-eyed fly specimen in A1 condition, expertly dry-preserved and spread, ideal for entomology collectors, educators, and artists.
Diopsis indica is one of the most iconic members of the family Diopsidae — the true stalk-eyed flies — in which both the eyes and antennae are borne on elongated lateral stalks extending from the head. This extraordinary morphology has made Diopsis one of the most studied genera in evolutionary biology, serving as a textbook example of sexual selection and honest signalling, where stalk length correlates directly with male fitness. Found across South and Southeast Asia, Diopsis indica is a fascinating and visually arresting specimen that never fails to captivate collectors, students, and visitors alike.
Perfect for entomologists, natural history collectors, educators, artists, interior designers seeking authentic Victorian cabinet aesthetics, and anyone passionate about the extraordinary diversity of the insect world.
