Dominican amber is notably rarer and more difficult to source than its Baltic counterpart. While Baltic amber is older and more abundantly recovered, Dominican amber — formed from the resin of the extinct leguminous tree Hymenaea protera — is prized for its exceptional clarity and the remarkable frequency and quality of its inclusions.
About Amber Inclusions
Amber inclusions are organisms entombed in ancient tree resin — not tree sap — millions of years ago. As the resin enveloped the specimen, it began a natural process of polymerization, hardening first into Copal and, over millions of years of burial and geological pressure, eventually transforming into true amber. The result is a window into a lost world: organisms preserved in extraordinary detail, suspended in time as if captured only yesterday.

This was part of a double order, same as my other review. I’m new to pinning as a hobby in my spare time. From what I can tell they’re good specimens with plenty of variety. My only gripe is that they didn’t come with ID but that wouldn’t stop me from ordering again. Hopefully ID can be added to future purchases.
