Our A2/B grade butterflies are real, ethically sourced specimens that carry minor imperfections — a slightly damaged antenna, a small wing nick, or a missing leg. Each butterfly is still carefully packed and presented; they simply don't meet the exacting standards of our A1 collector grade.
These are a favourite with artists, crafters, and jewellery makers who prize the natural beauty of real butterfly wings without needing museum-perfect condition. They're also ideal for anyone learning butterfly spreading and relaxing techniques — a cost-effective way to practise before working with premium specimens.
You'll receive 100 dry-preserved, unmounted, papered butterflies in an assorted mix of worldwide species. Expect a broad variety of colours — from vivid tropical blues and oranges to natural earthy tones — and a range of sizes from small to large.
Every specimen is sourced from butterfly rearing projects and through ethical collecting methods in Thailand. These programmes support rural village livelihoods and provide a sustainable alternative to slash-and-burn agriculture, helping to protect native habitats.
