Calappa hepatica (Order: DECAPODA, Family: CALAPPIDAE) – A museum-quality hepatic box crab specimen in A1 condition, expertly dry-preserved and unmounted for collectors, educators, and natural history enthusiasts.
Calappa hepatica, commonly known as the hepatic box crab, is a distinctive and visually striking calappid crab widely distributed across the Indo-Pacific, from the Red Sea and East Africa through to the Pacific Islands. Members of the family Calappidae are immediately recognisable by their highly domed, box-like carapace and enlarged, flattened claws that fold neatly against the body — giving them their common name and a uniquely compact, sculptural appearance unlike any other crab family. The carapace of C. hepatica is beautifully ornamented with a distinctive pattern of granules and ridges, and its warm brownish-orange colouration makes it a particularly attractive display specimen. A remarkable and architecturally striking addition to any natural history collection.
Perfect for marine biologists, natural history collectors, educators, artists, interior designers seeking authentic cabinet-of-curiosities aesthetics, and anyone passionate about the remarkable diversity of the natural world.

I’ve probably ordered jewel beetle elytra from at least 15 different companies by now so when it comes to quality elytra I know my stuff and the quality that I just received from ArtButterflies is truly excellent. I would say that the average size from the 1,000 elytra package that I received is slightly larger than average, it’s a good mix of sizes. The shipping was also prompt considering that they are located in the UK and I live in Michigan. It took exactly 10 days to receive my order. If I ever need more jewel beetle elytra I will definitely buy from ArtButterflies again. Thank you!
Beautiful, and cute. Was packaged well!
I was kinda bummed out that I got all beetles instead of the mixed specimens I ordered so I messaged the seller and they are making it right. Ill definitely be coming back to this seller in the near future 😁

Great specimen but looks like some weighted object was used to flatten the centipede prior to drying, would like to see a thicker specimen hitting the shelves guys

Specimens arrived in good condition and quickly
I've ordered from this company many times, always great communication and quality. This time there was an issue with the package being opened and tampered with while in transit (no fault to the shop). Joseph quickly made things right and offered to re-ship the missing items.
