Draco haematopogon is one of the most visually spectacular lizards in Southeast Asia — a member of the extraordinary genus Draco, the flying dragons, distributed across the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Borneo, and adjacent islands, where it inhabits the mid-storey of lowland and hill forest. The genus name Draco — Latin for ‘dragon’ — is entirely apt: these lizards possess an extraordinary gliding apparatus formed by greatly elongated ribs that support a thin membrane of skin — the patagium — which can be extended laterally to form a pair of vivid, wing-like panels, enabling controlled glides of up to 10 metres between trees. The specific epithet haematopogon means ‘blood-bearded’ — a reference to the striking red dewlap of the male, used in territorial displays and courtship. In spread position, this specimen displays the patagium in full extension — revealing the complete gliding surface in all its anatomical detail, the elongated rib structure clearly visible beneath the membrane. A genuinely extraordinary, anatomically unique, and visually exceptional addition to any serious natural history collection or herpetological study.

This was part of a double order, same as my other review. I’m new to pinning as a hobby in my spare time. From what I can tell they’re good specimens with plenty of variety. My only gripe is that they didn’t come with ID but that wouldn’t stop me from ordering again. Hopefully ID can be added to future purchases.
