Trimeresurus albolabris is a strikingly beautiful and medically significant arboreal pit viper distributed across South and Southeast Asia — from India and southern China through the Malay Peninsula and the Indonesian archipelago. Vivid emerald green with a distinctive white lateral stripe and white lower labial scales — the source of the epithet albolabris, meaning ‘white-lipped’ — it is one of the most visually iconic vipers in Asia. As a crotaline, it possesses the loreal pit organ — a highly sensitive infrared-detecting sensory structure located between the eye and nostril — used to detect warm-blooded prey with extraordinary precision in complete darkness. The viperid skull is among the most anatomically spectacular in the Serpentes — featuring the highly kinetic fang-bearing maxilla capable of rotating to erect the long, hollow solenoglyphous fangs, a deeply kinetic quadrate and pterygoid linkage, and a broadly triangular head profile — all clearly preserved in this specimen. This was part of a double order, same as my other review. I’m new to pinning as a hobby in my spare time. From what I can tell they’re good specimens with plenty of variety. My only gripe is that they didn’t come with ID but that wouldn’t stop me from ordering again. Hopefully ID can be added to future purchases.
