Thelyphonus feuerborni is a whip scorpion of the order Uropygi — one of the most ancient and morphologically distinctive arachnid lineages on Earth, with a fossil record extending back over 300 million years to the Carboniferous. Named in honour of the German zoologist Heinrich Jakob Feuerborn (1883–1969), who conducted extensive research on the invertebrate fauna of Java and the Indonesian archipelago. Despite their common name, whip scorpions are not true scorpions — they belong to an entirely separate arachnid order, lacking both venom glands and a stinging tail. Instead, the defining feature of the Uropygi is the long, whip-like flagellum at the tail end — a sensory organ rather than a weapon — and the ability to spray a defensive secretion of acetic acid (vinegar) from glands at the base of the flagellum, earning the group their alternative common name ‘vinegaroons’. A genuinely ancient, anatomically extraordinary, and deeply compelling addition to any serious natural history collection or arachnological study.

This was part of a double order, same as my other review. I’m new to pinning as a hobby in my spare time. From what I can tell they’re good specimens with plenty of variety. My only gripe is that they didn’t come with ID but that wouldn’t stop me from ordering again. Hopefully ID can be added to future purchases.
