Draco haematopogon היא אחת הלטאות המרשימות ביותר מבחינה חזותית בדרום־מזרח אסיה — חברה בסוג יוצא הדופן Draco, דרקוני התעופה, הנפוצים ברחבי חצי האי המלאי, סומטרה, בורנאו והאיים הסמוכים, שם הם חיים בשכבה האמצעית של יערות שפלה וגבעות. שם הסוג Draco — בלטינית „דרקון” — הולם אותה לחלוטין: ללטאות אלה מנגנון דאייה יוצא דופן, שנוצר מצלעות מוארכות מאוד התומכות בקרום עור דק — הפטגיום — שניתן לפרוס לצדדים ליצירת זוג לוחות חיים דמויי כנפיים, המאפשרים דאייה מבוקרת למרחק של עד 10 מטרים בין עצים. שם המין haematopogon פירושו „בעל זקן מדמם” — התייחסות לכרבולת הגרון האדומה והבולטת של הזכר, המשמשת בתצוגות טריטוריאליות ובחיזור. בתנוחה פרוסה, דגימה זו מציגה את הפטגיום בפריסה מלאה — וחושפת את משטח הדאייה השלם על כל פרטיו האנטומיים, כאשר מבנה הצלעות המוארכות נראה בבירור מתחת לקרום. תוספת יוצאת דופן באמת, ייחודית מבחינה אנטומית ובעלת נוכחות חזותית מרשימה, לכל אוסף רציני של תולדות הטבע או למחקר הרפטולוגי.

This was part of a double order, same as my other review. I’m new to pinning as a hobby in my spare time. From what I can tell they’re good specimens with plenty of variety. My only gripe is that they didn’t come with ID but that wouldn’t stop me from ordering again. Hopefully ID can be added to future purchases.
