Neurobasis chinensis florida is a subspecies of the celebrated Green Metalwing — one of the most visually spectacular damselflies in Asia and a jewel of the family Calopterygidae. The subspecies florida is distributed across parts of the Philippine archipelago, representing the island-endemic form of this extraordinary species and adding a layer of biogeographic precision that makes it particularly appealing to collectors building a systematic Neurobasis or Philippine Odonata series. Like the nominate subspecies, males display the characteristic intense iridescent emerald-green metallic hindwings that make Neurobasis chinensis so immediately recognisable and coveted — though subtle differences in wing extent and body markings distinguish florida from its congeners. In spread position, the iridescent hindwings are displayed to full effect. A precise and desirable subspecific specimen.
