Turnix suscitatorはアジアに広く分布するミフウズラ類の一種で、インドとスリランカから東南アジアを経て、中国南部、フィリピン、インドネシア諸島にまで生息しています。ウズラに似た外見をしていますが、ミフウズラ類は真のウズラではありません。チドリ目に属し、外見が似ている狩猟鳥類よりも、シギ類やカモメ類に近縁です。そのため、収斂進化の注目すべき例となっています。アジアで最も生物学的に特異な鳥類の一つであるミフウズラ類は一妻多夫制で、雌のほうが大きく、より鮮やかな色彩を持ち、縄張りをめぐって競い合う一方、雄が卵を抱き、単独で雛を育てます。ミフウズラ科の骨格は解剖学的に特徴的で、特に後趾（第1趾）がない点が挙げられます。これは地上性鳥類では独特の特徴であり、本標本でもはっきり確認できます。また、密な草原での生活に適応した、 компактで頑丈な体つきと短く力強い脚も見られます。真剣な自然史コレクションや鳥類学研究に加える価値のある、科学的に非常に優れた、深い興味をそそる標本です。

This was part of a double order, same as my other review. I’m new to pinning as a hobby in my spare time. From what I can tell they’re good specimens with plenty of variety. My only gripe is that they didn’t come with ID but that wouldn’t stop me from ordering again. Hopefully ID can be added to future purchases.
