암모나이트는 두족류 연체동물로, 오늘날의 나틸러스와 오징어의 친척이며, 백악기 말 멸종하기 전까지 3억 년 이상 세계 해양을 지배했습니다. 이들의 껍데기는 이집트의 양뿔 신 아몬의 뿔을 닮아 이름 붙여졌으며, 크기는 몇 밀리미터에서 지름 2미터 이상까지 다양합니다. 이 쌍은 마다가스카르에서 출토된 것으로 약 1억 1,500만 년 전 하부 백악기에 속하며, 가장 시각적으로 화려한 종을 대표합니다.
