A celestially marked example of Rhinoscapha lunulata — a weevil from the family CURCULIONIDAE whose species name, from the Latin lunula meaning "little moon", references the distinctive crescent-shaped markings that pattern its surface. Where Rhinoscapha basilica is named for royal grandeur and Rhinoscapha dohrni for institutional legacy, lunulata is named for something altogether more poetic — the quiet geometry of moonlight rendered in scale and chitin. The genus Rhinoscapha, from the Greek rhis ("snout") and skaphe ("boat"), contributes its characteristic boat-snouted rostrum, giving this species the same elegant structural profile shared across the genus.Dry-preserved to A1 museum standard, this specimen retains its full natural patterning, surface detail, and distinctive Rhinoscapha form.
