Schizophrys aspera, vulgarmente conhecido como caranguejo-aranha rugoso, é um caranguejo majídeo impressionante encontrado em toda a região do Indo-Pacífico, desde o mar Vermelho e a África Oriental até ao Sudeste Asiático e às ilhas do Pacífico. Membro da família Majidae — os caranguejos-aranha — caracteriza-se pela carapaça alongada, em forma de pera, densamente coberta de espinhos e tubérculos afiados, e pelas pernas longas e esguias, que lhe conferem o aspeto angular e arquitetónico típico desta família. A carapaça fortemente texturada e a forma arrojada e escultórica tornam-no num espécime visualmente dramático e altamente distintivo, bastante diferente dos caranguejos de carapaça lisa mais frequentemente encontrados em coleções. Uma adição arquitetonicamente impressionante e cientificamente interessante a qualquer coleção de história natural.
