O Jaspe Kambaba é uma pedra sedimentar composta por Quartzo microcristalino entrelaçado com Estromatólitos — colónias fossilizadas antigas formadas por cianobactérias e outros microrganismos primordiais. Estes Estromatólitos estão entre os fósseis mais antigos conhecidos na Terra, tornando cada espécime uma peça genuinamente antiga da história natural. O seu padrão distintivo de orbes verde-escuro é um registo direto da vida de há mais de três mil milhões de anos.
