A specimen of singular distinction: Eupholus linnei — a jewel weevil from the family CURCULIONIDAE named in honour of Carl Linnaeus (1707–1778), the father of modern taxonomy and the architect of the binomial nomenclature system that gives every species on this page its scientific name. Without Linnaeus, there would be no Eupholus linnei, no Cosmodela aurulenta, no Therates princeps — the entire language of natural history as we know it flows from his work. To own Eupholus linnei is to hold a specimen named after the man who made specimen naming possible. As a member of the genus Eupholus, it also delivers the genus’ hallmark brilliance — vivid gem-like banding in electric blues and greens that place it among the most beautiful weevils on Earth. Dry-preserved to A1 museum standard, this specimen retains its full chromatic intensity and extraordinary surface detail.
