Statilia maculata, la Mantis Saltadora Asiática, es una mantis religiosa esbelta y ágil ampliamente distribuida por el sur y sureste de Asia, extendiéndose hacia Asia oriental y el Pacífico. Una de las mantis más comúnmente encontradas en su área, es sin embargo un espécimen atractivo y bien proporcionado, caracterizado por su coloración moteada y críptica y la distintiva mancha oscura en la superficie interna de sus patas delanteras que da nombre a la especie (maculata: manchada). Vigorosa y rápida en vida, maculata es un espécimen clásico y limpio para exhibición que muestra las elegantes proporciones de una Mantidae de tamaño medio con excelente efecto, siendo una adición sólida y satisfactoria para cualquier colección de Mantodea.
