Un esemplare di singolare distinzione: Eupholus linnei — un curculione gioiello della famiglia CURCULIONIDAE, nominato in onore di Carl Linnaeus (1707–1778), il padre della tassonomia moderna e l’ideatore del sistema di nomenclatura binomiale che assegna a ogni specie in questa pagina il suo nome scientifico. Senza Linnaeus, non ci sarebbe Eupholus linnei, né Cosmodela aurulenta, né Therates princeps — l’intero linguaggio della storia naturale come lo conosciamo deriva dal suo lavoro. Possedere Eupholus linnei significa avere un esemplare intitolato all’uomo che ha reso possibile la denominazione degli esemplari. Come membro del genere Eupholus, offre anche la brillantezza distintiva del genere — fasce vivide simili a gemme in blu elettrico e verde che lo collocano tra i curculioni più belli al mondo. Conservato a secco secondo lo standard museale A1, questo esemplare mantiene tutta la sua intensità cromatica e i dettagli superficiali straordinari.
