Thelyphonus feuerborni è uno scorpione frusta dell'ordine Uropygi — una delle linee evolutive di aracnidi più antiche e morfologicamente distintive della Terra, con una documentazione fossile risalente a oltre 300 milioni di anni fa, al Carbonifero. È stato nominato in onore dello zoologo tedesco Heinrich Jakob Feuerborn (1883–1969), che condusse ricerche approfondite sulla fauna degli invertebrati di Giava e dell'arcipelago indonesiano. Nonostante il nome comune, gli scorpioni frusta non sono veri scorpioni: appartengono a un ordine di aracnidi completamente distinto, privo sia di ghiandole velenifere sia di un pungiglione caudale. La caratteristica distintiva degli Uropygi è invece il lungo flagello simile a una frusta all'estremità della coda — un organo sensoriale, non un'arma — e la capacità di spruzzare una secrezione difensiva di acido acetico (aceto) dalle ghiandole alla base del flagello, da cui deriva il loro nome comune alternativo «vinegaroon». Un'aggiunta autenticamente antica, anatomicamente straordinaria e profondamente affascinante per qualsiasi collezione seria di storia naturale o studio aracnologico.

This was part of a double order, same as my other review. I’m new to pinning as a hobby in my spare time. From what I can tell they’re good specimens with plenty of variety. My only gripe is that they didn’t come with ID but that wouldn’t stop me from ordering again. Hopefully ID can be added to future purchases.
