Il nome della specie schoenherri rende omaggio a Carl Johan Schönherr (1772–1848), l’entomologo svedese il cui monumentale lavoro in otto volumi Genera et Species Curculionidum rimane ancora oggi il riferimento fondamentale per la tassonomia dei curculionidi — un uomo che dedicò decenni della sua vita a catalogare proprio la famiglia a cui appartiene questo esemplare. Il nome della sottospecie petiti aggiunge un secondo livello di tributo, onorando un ulteriore contributore alla conoscenza entomologica. Conservato a secco secondo lo standard museale A1, questo esemplare mantiene tutta la sua intensità cromatica e i dettagli superficiali fini.
