Leptomantella abella è una mantide slanciata e raramente osservata della famiglia Iridopterygidae, diffusa in alcune aree del Sud-est asiatico. I membri del genere Leptomantella sono tra le mantidi più esili e delicate, caratterizzate da una struttura allungata e leggera, in netto contrasto con la corporatura robusta di generi più conosciuti come Hierodula. Raramente presente nelle collezioni, abella è un esemplare di autentico interesse tassonomico e un’acquisizione preziosa per i collezionisti specializzati nella diversità dei Mantodea, nell’entomofauna del Sud-est asiatico o nelle famiglie di mantidi più piccole e meno frequentemente rappresentate.
