Xenochrophis vittatusは、インドネシア西部の群島、主にジャワ島、スマトラ島、ボルネオ島に固有の細長い半水生のナトリクヘビです。水田、湿地、川岸、その他の淡水湿地環境に生息しています。同属のX. melanzostusと区別される特徴的な縦縞模様（種小名のvittatusは「帯状」または「縞模様」を意味）を持ち、より細く優美な種であり、同じ湿地環境内でわずかに異なる生態的ニッチを反映しています。属のすべてのメンバーと同様に、昼行性でカエルや小魚を活発に狩る捕食者です。ナトリクヘビの骨格は、半水生のヘビの骨学のよくバランスの取れた優美な例を示しており、洗練された脊椎と滑りやすい水生獲物を捕らえるために適応した頭蓋骨が特徴で、この標本に明確に保存されています。巻かれた形で展示されており、種のコンパクトな休息姿勢を再現した展示に適した構成で、真剣なコレクションや芸術的展示に科学的にも興味深い正確な追加品です。
