Eutropis multifasciataは、南アジアおよび東南アジアで最も豊富かつ広範囲に分布するスキンクの一種で、インドやスリランカから中国南部、マレー半島、インドネシア諸島、フィリピンに至るまで分布し、森林の縁、庭園、農地、開けた低木地帯で日光浴をするおなじみの生息者です。種小名のmultifasciataは「多くの帯状の」という意味で、側面に沿って複数の淡色の線が走る特徴的な縞模様を指します。スキンク科は地球上で最大のトカゲ科で、1,500種以上が記載されており、生態的にも多様で、E. multifasciataのような完全な四肢を持つ地表性種から、ヘビに似た無肢の地中性種まで多様な進化を遂げています。滑らかで光沢があり、美しいプロポーションのこの標本は、地球上最大のトカゲ科を代表し、真剣な自然史コレクションや爬虫類学研究に科学的に有益な一品です。
