Takydromus sexlineatus is one of the most immediately distinctive lizards in Southeast Asia — distributed from India and southern China through the Malay Peninsula and the Indonesian archipelago — where it is a slender, agile inhabitant of tall grass, reed beds, and scrub edge, moving through dense vegetation with remarkable speed and dexterity. The genus name Takydromus means ‘swift runner’ — an apt description of one of the most agile small lizards in Asia — while the specific epithet sexlineatus means ‘six-lined’, referring to the species’ characteristic pattern of six pale longitudinal stripes running the length of the body. A visually striking, anatomically extreme, and scientifically instructive addition to any serious natural history collection or herpetological study.
