每半个标本都精确切割通过中心，暴露出复杂的隔板和缝合线，这些将壳体分隔成一系列充满气体的腔室——这是动物控制水柱深度的浮力系统。马达加斯加菊石特有的虹彩矿化使抛光面在自然光下呈现出变幻的宝石般光泽。配有展示支架，这对标本既可作为配对套装一起展示，也可单独陈列。
