The species name schoenherri honours Carl Johan Schönherr (1772–1848), the Swedish entomologist whose monumental eight-volume work Genera et Species Curculionidum remains the foundational reference for weevil taxonomy to this day — a man who dedicated decades of his life to cataloguing the very family to which this specimen belongs. The subspecies name petiti adds a second layer of tribute, honouring a further contributor to entomological knowledge. Dry-preserved to A1 museum standard, this specimen retains its full chromatic intensity and fine surface detail.
